Over the past few months of living in Seattle, I started making a list of spots that I wanted to utilize for engagement photos. From different alleys with cool murals, to trails with gorgeous light, and parks with great views, I made note of Carkeek Park as a potential location for photos since it’s a small beach that’s close by with great views and not a lot of people. Then when it came time for Lauren & Richard’s engagement session, we collectively decided on doing Carkeek Park engagement photos!
While there is ample parking, I generally like to park right by the bridge near Piper’s Creek Trail. This is the closest spot you can park to get to the beach quickly. There are also streams, trails, and small boardwalks around this area, making it a great spot for engagement photos due to all the variety in scenery and vegtation.
When we started our session, we walked through a few trials near small streams to get some typical PNW engagement photos with the lush ferns poking through at every corner. From there, we walked across the bridge and down the stairs (right as a train was coming) to get to the beach. As a moment focused wedding photographer, I loved getting some candid shots of the train whizzing by as Lauren & Richard walked down the steps to the beach. We played around on the beach including some dancing, skipping rocks, and running around. These two wanted to incorporate their silly personalities into their photos, and I loved being able to capture them in their element.
As the sun set and started to disappear, we called a wrap on these Carkeek Park engagement photos and I headed home eager to start editing these sun-kissed golden hour beach engagement photos.
If you are looking for an engagement photo location close to Seattle with a beach, beautiful sunsets, with differing scenery close by, and not too many people, I would highly recommend you check out Carkeek Park! Want to see other engagement photos? Check out my engagement photo gallery here!
