Waterfront Woodmark Hotel Wedding
When I moved to Seattle, one of the things I was most excited about was getting to photograph weddings close to the water. Obviously, growing up in Colorado, there weren’t many waterfront venues, perhaps a lake here and there, but nothing like the stunning waterfront venues we have in the Pacific Northwest that open up to lakes, oceans, and bays. One of these is the Woodmark Hotel & Still Spa in Kirkland, that is right on Lake Washington. With a giant tent for ceremonies and dinners, a manicured lawn for cocktail hour, and stunning hydrogenous that line the perimeter, you truly can’t go wrong with a Woodmark Hotel wedding.
The stars of this show were Hank & Lauren, a paleontologist and nurse who love the outdoors and traveling. I remember vividly the smiles and warmth that greeted me when I arrived early to get started on detail photos, which continued throughout the day. I always like to arrive early to scout out good spots for family photos & portraits, and make sure I have ample time to get photos of scenery and details. So I set in on my photos while Lexi from Kinetic Botany finished up the ceremony floral pieces, and then I headed to Hank to get some getting ready shots.
The day progressed with such ease from getting ready, to first look, portraits, family photos, and the ceremony which was conducted under the large white tent on the back lawn. I was obsessed with how their florals turned out…a perfect mix of warm tones and whimsy that was the ideal backdrop for their ceremony. From the ceremony, guests mingled on the lawn for cocktail hour ahead of a plated dinner back in the tent. As everyone winded down, a few family members gave speeches, and then we all headed back inside for dancing, passing by the Nutty Squirrel cart to pick up gelato on our way in.
The highlight that finished out the night was seeing Lauren & Hank hoisted into the air during the Horah, which I loved laughing at their expressions as I edited the images. Once they were safely back to Earth, I gave them hugs and headed back home, so pleased with all I had captured.
