I love showing up to Alderbrook Resort for a wedding weekend. You step out of the car, you’re surrounded by towering trees, you can hearing the water lapping the shore, and Alderbrook Resort itself blends cozy and stunning. Nestled along the Hood Canal, Alderbrook Resort creates the perfect backdrop for couples who want more than a single day. It offers an opportunity to gather for an entire wedding weekend, and everyone can stay on property.
One of my favorite things about photographing weddings at Alderbrook Resort is that guests don’t just attend the wedding. They get to experience the destination. Friends and family can stay on-site, spend time together throughout the weekend, and enjoy the waterfront setting before and after the celebration itself. Rather than feeling like a whirlwind of introductions and quick conversations, wedding weekends create space for meaningful connection.
For Sarah and Spencer, that experience began with a welcome gathering that immediately set the tone for the days ahead. Guests arrived dressed to impress, mingling along the water while taking in the sweeping views of Hood Canal. By the time the wedding day arrived, everyone already felt relaxed, connected, and ready to celebrate.
The design of this Alderbrook Resort wedding felt like a love letter to the coast. The color palette drew inspiration from sea glass, featuring soft blues, greens, and neutral tones that complemented the waterfront setting beautifully. Oyster-inspired details added texture and personality throughout the design, creating a refined coastal aesthetic without feeling overly themed. Combined with the black tie dress code, the entire day felt elegant while still remaining true to its surroundings.
While beautiful details certainly help tell the story of a wedding day, the moments that stick with me most are almost always the unexpected ones. Before the ceremony, Sarah and her dad shared a sweet moment taking selfies together before walking down the aisle. It was playful, genuine, and such a perfect reflection of their relationship.
Then, just as everyone was lining up for the ceremony, there was a sudden burst of activity as Grandma came running in at the last second after an unexpected bathroom detour. Thankfully she made it just in time, creating one of those moments that had everyone laughing and instantly eased any lingering nerves. These are the memories that couples often cherish most years later. Not because they were perfectly planned, but because they were real.
If you’re dreaming of a waterfront wedding that feels equal parts elegant, relaxed, and deeply connected to the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, an Alderbrook Resort wedding is hard to beat.
Whether you’re planning a full wedding weekend complete with a welcome party or an intimate celebration focused on your closest loved ones, the resort offers a setting that encourages guests to slow down, connect, and fully immerse themselves in the experience.
