I meet with most of my couples before they book me. Whether they want to learn more about how I work, tell me details about their wedding or simply get to know me, most people want to put a face to the name before signing on the dotted line.
As an extrovert, I love this. I love meeting new people and think it’s important for couples to get to know their photographer considering they’ll be spending most of their wedding day with them.
Most meetings take an hour (give or take a few minutes) and end with something along the lines of, “we will get back to you when we have made our decision.” However, with Lisi & Noah, we chatted for a little over two hours and by the time the conversation was over, they had chosen me as their wedding photographer. The funny part was I don’t think we spoke very much about their wedding, but it was so easy to talk to them and by the time two hours had gone by, I felt like I was sitting across from two close friends.
I was invited to be a part of their rehearsal dinner at their venue, Bella Vista Estates, which allowed me to get to know my surroundings as well as the people that Lisi & Noah had summoned to this joyous weekend. The night continued after dinner with a Lip Sync Battle where guests were invited to dress up and perform a song while lip syncing the lyrics.
Their wedding day was just as joyous, candid and fun and included a spontaneous champagne sabering by Noah, a unity ceremony with a joint (instead of sand or a candle), a Chinese dance performed by Lisi and her mom, a surprise musical performance by Noah’s uncle, and a pajama dance party to end the night.
The day could not have been more perfect because it embodied Lisi & Noah’s free-spirited personalities and their love for fun. I feel so lucky to have been asked to document such an incredible day full of so many wonderful, kind and loving people.
