When I first spoke with Beverly & Patrick on the phone, I was immediately in love with their southern charm and kindness. They were introduced to me by a local planner, Sweetly Paired, and after our first conversation, I knew they would be a joy to work with. The two wanted spectacular mountain views, so they chose Sapphire Point for their Colorado elopement location. With the Dillion Reservoir just below and the many curious chipmunks that hang around this location, it was a beautiful spot for their vows.
The one thing Beverly told me before the wedding was how she hoped a chipmunk would hop into the frame for an image. If you’ve ever been to Sapphire Point, you have seen the numerous chipmunks that run around looking for people to feed them. While I didn’t bring any food to entice the wildlife, I hoped that one would naturally hop into a picture for a cameo. Little did I know that one would take the spotlight for a few minutes during their wedding ceremony.
After Beverly made it down the aisle, Patrick and Beverly joined hands and Scot, their officiant, began speaking. Within seconds, a chipmunk ran over to the Beverly’s feet and decided to have a taste of Beverly’s dress. He stuffed handfuls of her dress into his cheeks, thinking that this was his next meal. He even tried running off with the dress in his mouth, but didn’t make it very far. After a few minutes of guests giggling and this chipmunk desperately trying to eat the wedding gown, he was shooed away and the ceremony continued.
The ceremony concluded and the two signed their marriage license with the incredible mountain backdrop. We finished with couples portraits and then sent them on their way to a celebratory dinner at the Dillion Dam Brewery.
