A large part of photography is networking; networking to potential clients and also networking within the community of creative professionals. Through this networking, I have met so many awesome people, and one of these awesome people is a local lifestyle & travel blogger, Holly Canon. When Holly reached out to me about collaborating together, she mentioned in passing that she had recently gotten engaged. After hearing this, it immediately sparked an idea in my head. I suggested a Boulder engagement session at Lost Gulch Lookout. I had heard so much about the location and seen so many stunning images, but never had a chance to venture up there to shoot.
Holly was immediately on board and even got a local Denver boutique, Pinks, involved so we could have an amazing flowy red dress for the photoshoot. Anyone who knows me, knows that I absolutely love photographing bold colors, so the red dress was perfect for our session. It also proved itself when the wind picked up around sunset and it billowed smoothly in the wind while Holly and her fiancé Jordan were standing out on the rocks.
We utilized the windy road leading up to the lookout, a grove of evergreen trees just off the road and the massive jutting rocks overlooking the city of Boulder. The whole evening was full of beautiful even light, and as the sun set over Boulder, the sky was filled with pink and purple hues. We shot until the sun was completely set, and then we shot some more finishing out the session with a few silhouettes showcasing the gorgeous Colorado sky, lit with pink and blue.
Lost Gulch Overlook proved itself as a phenomenal setting for a Boulder engagement session, which was the ultimate backdrop for showcasing Holly and Jordan’s love for one another. To see more engagement images, view my engagement gallery.
