Ashley & Thomas’ Fairmont Olympic Hotel wedding was a beautiful mix of the classic luxurious charm of this famous Seattle hotel, with the fun vibrant energy of Indian culture that they integrated through a late night outfit change and full family Bollywood dance. This 10-hour day was packed full of glamour, beauty, and a whole lot of joy.
As I walked into the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in downtown Seattle, I was reminded of how much I adore that spot. With chandeliers, beautiful checkered floors, ballrooms, and a lobby with a bar that looks straight out of London, it made for the best place to host a black tie wedding in Seattle. While I photographed Thomas and his groomsmen getting ready, Sarah photographed Ashley getting ready off site, before we met up at the ceremony site, Bastyr Chapel. The chapel is on site at Bastyr University, a private alternative medicine university in Kenmore, Washington. I was awestruck when we first walked in, as the chapel was all marble with beautiful designs on the walls and ceiling, pews on both sides of the aisle, that framed the ceremony beautifully from start to finish.
From the chapel, we headed back to the Fairmont Hotel to continue the festivities with the cocktail hour and reception. Arriving to the hotel, I went back and forth between the cocktail hour space and the reception ballroom to capture both candids, and shots of the reception set up. The design included raised florals with shades of pink and white, candles, and glass plates, all that played seamlessly with the vintage decor already adorning the room.
The night concluded with dances, cake cutting, toasts, and then my favorite part…the couple changed into traditional Indian wedding clothes, the groom wearing a white and gold Sherwani and the bride wearing a two piece lehenga in light pink. As they entered back into the reception space, they began a dance of multiple parts that included the wedding party, both sides of the family, and then of course, the bride and groom. The crowd went wild and loved every minute of it, piling onto the dance floor after it concluded to finish out the event with a huge dance party, concluding this incredible Fairmont Olympic Hotel wedding with a bang.
