Traveling and photography are two of my favorite things, so when the two get combined…it’s a match made in heaven. Traveling to San Francisco for this destination engagement session was such an amazing experience that allowed me to photograph an amazing couple in a new area and learn more about a new city. The couple, Tríona and Oisin, originally from Ireland, had recently gotten engaged on a trip to Iceland. I was over the moon to be able to capture these engagement photos for them so much so that I shot about as many frames as I do in an 8-hour wedding. I was so inspired by the surroundings in San Francisco…the Golden Gate Bridge, the beautiful sunset, the rocky beach and the sound of the waves that I took photo after photo.
We decided to go to Lands End to take the photos because of the array of scenery. Lands End has a rocky beach (Mile Rock Beach), hills, a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge and a Labyrinth made of rocks. As I have spoken about in numerous other blogs, having a multitude of backgrounds is ideal for photoshoots. The more options you have, the more variety you can get in your images while not having to walk all over town or waste any time.
We had such an amazing time walking all over Lands End, finding different backgrounds wherever we turned. Being from Colorado where there is little water, I naturally gravitated to the beautiful beach in the northwest corner of the park. Waves crashing against the rocks serenaded us as I photographed.
I will always say yes to destination engagement sessions, destination weddings and any destination photography! Being able to see new things and create in a new environment inspires me to be every more artistic and creative.
