This has obviously been a weird year, especially in the wedding industry. So many couples have had to make the decision to postpone or cancel their wedding due to COVID restrictions. Thankfully, some of my couples chose to have an intimate wedding on their original date, and then celebrate with everyone in 2021. One of these couples, Ashley and Kyle decided to have an urban Denver wedding at City Park and then portraits in the River North Arts District area. As a Downtown Denver wedding photographer, I was excited to incorporate the beauty of the city into this intimate wedding.
The day began at Ashley & Kyle’s home in Downtown Denver. Ashley and Kyle got ready with a few family members and then exchanged gifts. Their apartment was full of indoor plants, and as a plant mom myself, I loved incorporating them into the images. I was also able to get some shots of their adorable dog, Flip who was so excited to greet everyone. After everyone was ready and gifts were exchanged, we all headed to City Park. Ashley got into her dress after Kyle had left so she could surprise him once she arrived.
The two had chosen to be married under a beautiful old tree with a view of the lake in the background. Their beloved pup, Flip, served as their ring bearer and had a floral collar to fit the part. The ceremony was officiated by Ashley’s brother and included many laughs and tears as he detailed how Ashley and Kyle met and fell in love. After, “I do”, we did some family photos and a champagne toast.
We concluded the afternoon with portraits around City Park and RiNo. I was elated with Ashley and Kyle expressed interest in having portraits taken with the new murals in RiNo. As a Downtown Denver wedding photographer, I have so many favorite urban spots, but RiNo is by far my favorite. With the colorful murals, unique patterns and proximity to variety, it’s perfect for photos. We walked around and stopped when we saw a mural we liked, and got many honks and congratulatory messages from passerbys. It was a beautiful afternoon in Denver, full of color and joy.
