As a lover of downtown Denver, I frequently wander through new parts of the city looking for fun places to shoot. I am always on the lookout for urban Denver engagement locations and Denver has so much variety! From amazing backgrounds and beautifully textured buildings, to alleys lined with murals, one of my favorite spots is the Santa Fe Art District in the Baker neighborhood. Not only does this street contain many Denver wedding venues like Moss Denver, Space Gallery, Skylight and Artwork Network, but it’s also the perfect spot for engagement images.
When Keaton and Brett told me that they were interested in engagement images in the city, I immediately proposed the idea of the Santa Fe Art District. Since they are getting married this summer at an urban venue, Mile High Station, they wanted to keep with the theme and have photos downtown. I showed them a few images of the areas, and they were immediately on board!
The day of our shoot, Keaton and Brett made the 90 minute drive down from Cheyenne, Wyoming to come meet me for their photos. The three of us had a blast walking through alleys, enjoying the murals and the surprising warm temperatures for a Denver day in January. Along our journey we found some of our favorite murals. One being “Bright Future” by Shepard Fairy that pictures two old cars in black with the bold words, “Bright Future” above them. We also loved the wraparound mural at Sweatshop Dance by Shrine that covers two large walls in orange and yellow with black and white intricate patters over top. Both proved to be perfect backgrounds for photos.
To anyone looking for a perfect spot for colorful engagement images, I would highly recommend the Santa Fe Art District for vibrant murals, a multitude of colors and beautiful textures all within a walkable distance. For more information about the happenings in the area, visit their site here.
